So, you’ve just had your Maxton Design styling kit installed and your car is looking better than ever. You’re on your way home from our fitting bay in Leeds and all the locals are turning their heads as you drive past. The last thing you want is to ruin it by scratching your front splitter, scraping your side skirts or losing your Spoiler Cap. Here’s a few tips on how to preserve your new body kit to keep your car looking top notch.
Speed Bumps & Potholes
The majority of our items are crafted from ABS Plastic, a common material in the automotive world, and although they do boast durable properties, they're not invincible. If you happen to experience an impact while cruising at faster speeds, there's a chance it could result in some damage. This applies particularly to our Front Splitters which are installed at the front of the car, the most vulnerable area of the vehicle. That’s why we advise slowing down for speed bumps and steering clear of deep pot-holes to avoid any accidents.
Of course, this tip is applicable for the wider health of your car too. If you are wanting to avoid tyre damage, accelerated deflation or bent wheel rims, it’s best to dodge pot-holes anyway.
Car Washes
I think I speak for most people when I say that in our busy day-to-day lives, convenience is king. Drive through car washes offer a simple solution to remove any lingering dirt and grime on your car. Not only that, but it’s very minimal physical effort. Tempting.
However, drive through car washes and Maxton styling kits aren’t the best of friends. The rotating brushes that spin at speeds of at least around 70rpm (revolutions per minute) pose a significant threat to the products and can result in surface scratches or even cracks.
Instead, why not get hands-on with your car by cleaning it manually. Grab yourself a bucket of warm water, some car cleaning solution (like shampoo or wash and wax) and a microfibre cloth and fall in love with your car all over again. Not only will this protect your body kit, but also prevent damage to your paintwork that can be caused by drive through car washes.
Avoid harsh chemicals
On a similar note, it’s important to avoid using abrasive or harsh cleaning chemicals on the styling kit, as they may damage the finish.
Don’t worry, the Maxtonizer, our quick detailer, is here to help. Produced using a combination of ingredients including polymers and wax, it’s perfect for removing dirt, smudges and prints, restoring that glossy shine to the styling kit. It’s also been specifically tested on our products, so we can guarantee it’s safe to use.
The set contains a 500ML bottle of solution, an application sponge and a microfiber towel so all of your cleaning needs are covered.
