Here at Maxton Design, we pride ourselves on supplying automotive styling kits with an OEM+ finish of the highest quality. All of our products are designed and manufactured in Europe. Of recent, a large percentage of automotive parts are manufactured in Asia. While there are financial incentives for companies to do this, we have found there are many benefits to keeping our facilities in Europe. Product quality, delivery times, design protections and sustainability to name a few. Let's explore these in a little more depth so you can become more familiar with the Maxton operations and the positive impacts we try to make.
Quality
Many consumers around the world have long held a high respect for products manufactured in Europe. In fact, just the label of being manufactured in Europe spawns perceptions of quality and efficiency. Europe is renowned for its strict quality standards and regulations, meaning that products often undergo rigorous quality control measures, ensuring that the consumer receives a high-quality item.
Our team of over one hundred people that manufacture our styling kits are extremely meticulous when it comes to quality, ensuring that every product that leaves the factory is of the highest standard and worthy of being installed on your pride and joy.
Delivery Times
Another important factor that we strive for is lead times. We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve been contacted by customers who have made last minute plans for car shows, and need to make their car look show-and-shine worthy. Our UK HQ has room to stock over thirteen-thousand styling parts, however due to the huge range of items we offer, it’s difficult to keep stock of everything.
That’s where the benefits of manufacturing in Europe comes into play. From the moment the item leaves the factory, it will have landed with us here in the UK in no longer than two days. A closer supply chain means that there is less possibility of delays, quality issues and a better overall control of the supply process. If we were to manufacture parts outside of Europe, you’d be waiting an extra three to four weeks for your styling kits.
Design Protection
One of the biggest challenges successful companies face is product infringement. There’s nothing worse than waking up and finding other products on the market that look extremely similar to ours. With over 20 years in this industry, creating products and growing the brand, we have inevitably attracted the attention of companies who want an easy way to sell styling products. This has led to manufacturers in the UK and globally, skipping the R&D process and using our products to create molds so they can mass replicate them. Therefore, we now invest a considerable amount of time tackling this problem with our own infringement team that identifies and takes down copied products across the internet.
Maxton Design products are protected by Registered Community Designs (“RCDs”), meaning we have the exclusive right to prevent the sale, offers for sale, importation and manufacture of all products which do not create a different overall impression from the registered designs.
Sustainability
As you’re most likely aware, we’re currently living in an era of increasing concern over the environment and climate change. The European Union claim that sustainable growth is one of their main objectives. To tackle rapid climate change and the ever growing demand for resources, a wide range of policies and initiatives, like the European Green Deal and the Circular Economy Action Plan, were introduced which manufacturers in Europe have to adhere to. The aim is to eliminate waste and pollution, with the ultimate goal of climate neutrality by 2050.
Manufacturing in Europe means our delivery vans have to travel less distance when transporting our styling kits, resulting in less emissions. In fact, our products travel exactly 2025km from the manufacturers in Wojnicz, Poland to our UK HQ in Leeds by road. Compare this to the 7773km from China to Leeds, where the products would likely have to travel by air. The difference is clear to see, just like we want our local nature to be.
Here at Maxton Design UK, we also take local measures to offset our carbon footprint. Simple steps like recycling old cardboard and using it as protection in future orders is just one of the ways we look to create a positive impact. Oh, and we also have a Tesla Model 3 in the Maxton Fleet.
